Meet the team
Anika Anand, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and associate
I am a bi-cultural Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with six years of training and experience in a variety of health care settings.
Our therapy sessions will explore your unique story and goals so that I can help you heal in a meaningful way with lasting results. Using my training and experience working to address trauma and oppression, I strive to create a therapeutic space that honours your lived experiences and affirms your identities, while acknowledging the ways power, culture, and systems may influence your wellbeing. I will bring curiosity and attentiveness to our appointments. In our sessions, I will notice patterns, ask questions, and use my clinical training and knowledge to guide our work together. Everything we explore will be centered on your life experience and goals, so that you find our time together meaningful, practical, and tailored to you.
I use well-researched therapy approaches based on your needs. Examples include:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), an approach where we will work together to help you learn to shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviours
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach where I can help you learn how to live well alongside difficult emotions
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), an approach where I will teach you practical skills to manage emotions and relationships
Motivational Interviewing (MI), an approach where I will ask questions to help you become more ready for change
Narrative Therapy, where our sessions will focus on making sense of your experiences and identity
Mindfulness, an approach where I will help you learn strategies for staying calm and present in challenging situations.
These approaches focus on the whole person and support meaningful, lasting change.
Wherever you are starting from, you are welcome with me, and you do not have to navigate life’s challenges and the feelings that come with them alone.
